I am the mother to two absolutely amazing kids. I don't know what I would do if I wasn't their mom. Dan is 7 and has incredible energy. He was my miracle child after the doctor told me I couldn't have children. He has a love for just about everything. He loves to be outside playing with his sister, riding his bike, playing baseball or playing inside with his trains, cars, tractors, superheroes or anything else he gets his hands on. He loves to read books with mom or watch baseball and go fishing with his step-dad. He's my little ball of energy.
Lauren is my sunshine. She is now 5 and just an amazing little girl. She loves to watch "Max and Ruby," "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse," or "Bubble Guppies." She loves puzzles and blocks and books and loves to swing on her swing and jump on her bed. She amazes me everyday with all the things she has accomplished. lauren was diagnosed with low-functioning autism at 18 months old. We have been through many struggles with her and work hard everyday at accomplishing her many goals.
I started this site because of a sad situation with my own children. For Dan's 6th birthday, we invited his whole class to the Community Center for a big party. I made enough food and party bags and everything for 40 people and not one of his classmates came. He was crushed. The same has been true for Lauren as well. I, then, thought about all the other kids going through the same things on their birthdays and even holidays and wanted to do something for these kids to brighten their day...to let them know that they are thought about and they are important. So, I came up with "Au-Some Birthdays." Anyone with a special needs child can sign up to have a card sent to them on their birthdays, as well as, holidays (New Years, Groundhog Day, Valentine's Day, Easter, 4th of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas.)
If you have a child or know someone with a child with special needs, spread the word, we are here to make kids happy. Visit us on our facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Au-Some-Birthdays/1635957773331877
